Born and raised in Boston, MA., Ross graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School with a B.S. in Economics and later attended the Berklee College of Music, majoring in arranging.
His newest venture, BossRoss Media, recently published Secrets Of The List a digital marketing insider’s handbook that connects the powerful links between email and social media. The book is available on Amazon Books. Ross also speaks frequently at seminars, conferences and on panels.
Ross founded MusicRow, Nashville’s Music Industry Publication in 1981. He also founded RowFax, a weekly song pitching publication in mid-1993 and in 2003 debuted the spin-based CountryBreakout chart designed to track airplay at small market radio. MusicRow was acquired in 2008. Ross, still consults the publication and remains a content contributor. One of country music’s most-read industry analysts, he continues to cover the intersection between Nashville’s entertainment business and technology. The CMA honored Ross with its President’s Award in 1998, and the Canadian Country Music Association recognized his efforts bestowing upon him the prestigious Leonard T. Rambeau Award For International Achievement in 2003.
Ross currently serves on the Board of the Country Music Hall of Fame and is Chairman of its Sales & Marketing committee; he also serves on the CMA Board and sits on its finance and investment committees. He is a class of 1992 Leadership Music graduate and hosted the first CMA Awards Internet simulcast in 1997. Current interests in addition to family (wife Susana, daughters Michelle and Isabel) and work include, physical fitness, technology and fine cigars.
